Product Questions

Original Blue-Emu Super Strength is a topical cream formulated to help soothe tired muscles and joints and to moisturize dry, chapped, or weathered skin. It is formulated for external use only.

You won't "feel" any heating or cooling sensation when applying Blue-Emu products, but you should notice some relief as it begins to penetrate the skin to the source of discomfort. This is because we do no use any sensate, such as menthol or camphor, in our products. Please see the product packaging for directions for use.

Blue-Emu is used by many people for an array of ailments and conditions. While our products work for thousands of people, they may not work for everyone or for every condition. Often even prescription drugs aren't successful in combating pain.

We carry a variety of Blue-Emu products, each with a different formula and ingredients. You will find the ingredients for each of our products listed on each product's page, usually under the Supplement Information or Drug Fact Panel tab. Our entire line of Blue-Emu products are gluten-free. Our products do not contain wheat and do not contain ingredients derived from wheat.

While the glucosamine in Blue-Emu is derived from shellfish, the commercially available glucosamine we use is so highly processed and purified that it is unlikely to contain any of the potential allergen, shellfish proteins.

However, if you are highly allergic to shellfish and are looking for a Blue-Emu cream without glucosamine, we have several options. Blue-Emu Lidocaine Numbing Cream, Blue-Emu Lidocaine Dry Patch, Blue-Emu Recovery Bath Pods, and Blue-Emu Foot Therapy are all glucosamine free.

And, as always, if you have any concerns, please consult with your physician before using Blue-Emu products.

Many individuals with allergies to sulfa drugs or sulfites do not experience problems taking or using MSM. This is because MSM contains sulfur but bears no relation to these substances. However, people who are allergic to one drug are more likely to be allergic to another, regardless of its chemical structure. So if you have a known allergy to sulfonamides or to sulfites, consult with your physician before using Blue-Emu products.

Blue-Emu Foot Therapy may be used anywhere on the body. However, it does contain Peppermint Oil, which has a slight peppermint smell and can create a cooling, calming sensation.

Blue-Emu Original doesn't contain any antibiotic ingredients like over the counter antibiotic or burn creams. However, it does contain the ingredients Emu Oil, Aloe, Allantoin, and Dimethicone that are all soothing. Many consumers tell us that they apply Blue-Emu to their skin after cold water to hasten the soothing of burns.

Our Blue-Emu Original Super-Strength cream does not contain parabens, sulfates, or phthalates.

Blue-Emu pain relief products contain the active ingredient, Trolamine Salicylate. This is an aspirin derivative that gives temporary pain relief for arthritis, sprains, strains, bruises, and backache.

Blue-Emu lidocaine products contain Lidocaine. This ingredient targets the receptors that cause pain to give numbing relief for up to 8 hours.

While Blue-Emu is known for our signature blue cream, we do have some products which contain no dyes. Blue-Emu Lidocaine Numbing Pain Relief Cream, Blue-Emu Continuous Pain Spray, and Blue-Emu Foot Therapy do not contain any blue dyes.

Blue-Emu Super Strength cream can have two issues. The jar lid may have been put on too tight. If so, you can use a rubber pad or other gripping product to help loosen the lid. Before running the lid under hot water, please note the lot number and expiration date of the product. The other issue relates to the foil seal under the lid. If you are unable to open the jar or remove the foil seal, please contact customer support by email or phone with this information, and we will gladly ship you a new jar to you for free.

Blue-Emu Lidocaine Numbing Pain Relief Cream must have a child resistant cap due to the lidocaine in the product. The child resistant cap is designed to be opened by squeezing the two tabs on the side of the cap and twisting at the same time. Please see the instructional graphic below.

This may be difficult for some people. If there are no small children in your home, you may leave the cap off and place the tube in a plastic bag so you won't have to struggle to open it with each use.

To remove the adhesive, try slightly soaking the patch with 70% Rubbing Alcohol. The patch does not need to be dripping wet. The white fabric backing should turn a translucent color.

Wait approximately 10-15 seconds, and then slowly peel from one corner. It should easily remove from the skin.

We're sorry to hear that you're having difficulty getting the product to spray.

Be certain to remove the clear plastic film at the top of the can and then try this - with your left hand, hold the lower white band at the top of the container. Turn the upper white part 2-4 times to the left and then look for the grey area when turning it back to the right. The product should spray from the grey area. You may have to press firmly down at the lower part of the top to get it to spray for the first time.

Some of our Blue-Emu products contain Allantoin. Allantoin comes in crystals which are dissolved into other liquids during the manufacturing process. An independent product testing company has recently confirmed occasionally over time, these dissolved particles may reach a saturation point and return to crystals. The crystals are harmless and should absorb into the skin with the remainder of the cream when applied.

The Blue-Emu manufacturing process precisely fills each Blue-Emu product to its required weight. Each individual product has its weight measured to confirm proper fill prior to being released for sale.

The cream nature of our products can allow it to shift within its container while in transit and during handling. This shift in product may make the container appear to be less than full. If your purchase appears to be missing product upon opening, please contact customer support by email or phone with your address, the lot number, and expiration date located on the side of the label so we can resolve this issue for you.

Our products and the ingredients are not made for ingestion and the processing equipment which makes our products do not ever come into contact with peanuts, tree nuts, or derivatives. They are 100% free of peanuts, tree nuts, or derivatives.

In general, all OTC products do not require approval by the FDA because they use ingredients evaluated by the FDA monograph. Regarding Blue-Emu products specifically, Blue-Emu Original, Foot Therapy, and Recovery Bath does not contain any drug ingredients. Blue-Emu pain relief products contain Trolamine Salicylate, which is on the FDA monograph. Blue-Emu lidocaine products contain lidocaine, which is on the FDA monograph.

Our products are properly labeled using recycling symbols to direct you on whether the product container is recyclable. Please check the container for the recycling symbol. You can then compare it to the chart below to see if you can recycle it.

Safety Questions

Blue-Emu Original is safe to use on children ages 2 and up. If rash or irritation develops, discontinue use. For children younger than that, please consult with their healthcare provider.

Blue-Emu pain relief and lidocaine products are safe to use on children ages 12 and up. For children younger than 12, please consult with their healthcare provider.

We recommend you consult with your physician before using any new product, even if it doesn't contain an active ingredient.

Yes, you may apply Original Blue-Emu Super Strength cream to your pet. If irritation develops, please discontinue use. Be aware however, that because of the emu oil in the product, animals like to lick it. While not harmful in small doses, be sure to keep the jar closed as pets have been known to eat the entire contents!

Please check with your veterinarian about using our other Blue-Emu products. They can contain either Trolamine Salicylate, an aspirin based ingredient, or Lidocaine, a numbing agent.

An ice pack may be used with any of our Blue-Emu brand products. We recommend waiting approximately 20 minutes after applying to be certain it's absorbed into the skin, and to use the ice pack no longer than 20 minutes at a time.

DO NOT USE a heating pad with any of our Blue-Emu products.

No, the FDA recommends that you only use one pain relief product at a time, including oral and topical products, to avoid side effects.

Our products are safe and effective when used according to the directions on the labels, and used before the expiration date. We have no data or information or knowledge about the safety and effectiveness of our products past their expiration dates.

Blue-Emu Original Super Strength can be used long term to support muscles and joints as well as moisturizing dry, weathered, or chapped skin.

Blue-Emu pain relief and lidocaine products are meant for temporary pain relief. If symptoms haven't gotten better after 7 consecutive days of use, please consult your healthcare provider. Extended use of these products should only happen under the supervision of your healthcare provider.

Because of the emu oil in the product, animals might try to lick it. While not harmful in small doses, if your pet displays signs of stress (lethargic, foaming at the mouth, vomiting, etc.) be sure to contact your veterinarian immediately.

The recommended dosing is based on FDA guidelines for the active ingredient. If you look at products with the same active ingredient, you'll see they have similar dosing recommendations.

If the product has liquefied, the emulsion has broken down and the product may not be as effective as the original product. Please contact our customer support by email or phone so we can help you.

If at all possible, please don't allow the product to freeze. This could cause the cream to break down and may be runny or liquefied.

If it has frozen, let it thaw at room temperature. You may need to stir the contents to mix them, but there shouldn't be any degrading of the effectiveness.

We ship orders with UPS and FedEx in order to get your order to you in a timely manner.

When you order ships, we provide you with the shipping company name and the tracking number. Simply go to the shipping companies website and copy the tracking number into the track field on their website. You will then be able to see all information about your shipment.

It can take 24-48 hours for the tracking information to update with the shipping company. If you don't see any shipping details, please wait and try again at a later time.
