.So! For this Spring sport season, I thought I would share some care tips in the event of any unfortunate incidents.
- 1. Cut or Scrape: In case of bleeding, press firmly with a clean cloth and rinse under warm running water. If the skin is broken, use over the counter antibacterial ointment to prevent infection, then cover with a bandage.
- 2. Nosebleed: In the event of a nosebleed, DO NOT lean the head back. Lean the child’s head forward and pinch it without checking for a minimum of five minutes. If bleeding is persistent, call your doctor.
- 3. Splinter: Use soap and water to wash the affected area. Using tweezers that have been cleaned with alcohol, pull out the splinter and then clean the area like you
- 4. Insect Bite or Sting: In the event of an allergic reaction (trouble breathing, swelling, coughing, hoarseness), call 911. For less serious situations, use a cold compress on the area and then apply hydrocortisone cream.
