Along with other Team Blue-Emu riders, Wing chooses to wear a helmet during his rides which proved beneficial last year. His mother, Traleia Wing, explained, “He wears a vest, but never did want to wear a helmet. I really pushed the helmet because his profession is so dangerous.” Eventually taking his mother’s advice, Wing began wearing a helmet just in time for a run-in with the bull Cajun Blast at last year’s Winston-Salem event. Wing’s head collided with the bull twice before he was thrown to the ground unconscious. Carried out a stretcher, he was conscious and communicating with medical staff as he was leaving the arena. His mother said, “He was okay, just a few chipped teeth, but it was very frightening.”

Fourth overall went to Stormy Wing, who had to perform in Baltimore to keep his spot on tour after this weekend’s cut. After riding both of his bulls on Day 1, Wing bucked off of Betta Believe (Boyd/Floyd/Shepherd) in Round 3, but received 87 points for his ride on Movin’ On (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls) in the championship round. Fifth place in Baltimore went to another former World Champion, Mike Lee. He made the buzzer in Round 3 on Red Man (5S Ranch) for 87.5 points, but was bucked off of his bull in the championship round.

The BFTS will head to Oklahoma City next week for the eleventh time, for the Winstar World Casino Invitational presented by Express Employment Professionals, Feb. 10-12 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Bull riding begins at 8:00 p.m. CT on Feb. 10, 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 7 p.m. CT, and at 2:00 p.m. CT on Feb. 12. CBS Sports Network signs multiyear television agreement with PBR

CBS Sports Network has reached a multiyear television agreement with Professional Bull Riders (PBR) beginning in 2012, it was announced today by David Berson, Executive Vice President, CBS Sports and President, CBS Sports Network and PBR President & COO Sean Gleason. The agreement makes CBS Sports Network the primary television partner of PBR with 27 live events televised throughout the year.

CBS Sports Network will air over 55 hours of live event programming each year, beginning on Saturday, Jan. 7 with the Madison Square Garden Invitational from New York City. On Monday, Jan. 9, the Network debuts an exclusive weekly highlight program that will continue each Monday throughout the season. As part of the deal, CBS Sports expands its PBR coverage, broadcasting eight one-hour shows on the CBS Television Network.

“Our new partnership with PBR is a milestone in the evolution of CBS Sports Network,” said Berson. “Bull Riding is a rapidly growing sport and we’re thrilled to begin a new long term relationship with PBR and its passionate fan base. This deal helps us reach a broader audience as we continue to grow the Network and significantly expand our live programming.”
